READIND HABITS ON THE DECLINE
1450. The year Johannes Gutenburg created history by printing the first book. It was a miracle during the 19th century as it was considered that it would drive away the clouds of ignorance and false faith. But it seems that the 21st century’s love affair has started fading away. We are more interested in spending time with our I-pads or rather watching T.V rather than reading some good books. Gone are the days when children used to delight in reading books and curiousity ruled over them. Now-a-days we label booklovers as geeks or bookworms. We consider them as unsocial, weird and boring. It adversely affects the child’s mind. Books are of many uses as well. It increases the power of thinking, our concentration. As it is rightly said by Roald Dahl in his book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,
TV rots the senses in the head,
It kills imagination dead,
His brain becomes as soft as cheese,
His power of thinking rust and freeze,
Throw your TV set away’
Instead you can place,
A lovely bookshelf in its place.
So friends it’s time to buckle up and inculcate the reading habit.
